Every love story does not always follow that perfect girl meets guy, they fall in love, get married and live happily ever after scenario. Sometimes that perfect love story takes time to work itself out. Blaire grew up in the Midwest, the second oldest of six, and she was always trying to find her way in the world. Deray born and raised in Texas by a single mom, grew to love all and give all of himself to his family and those he loved the most in the world.  Blaire worked odd jobs over the years, and finally came to work at the military base in the area. Deray never wanted to go on to college after high school, so he joined the Army, and moved around the world, and finally came to that same military base, and this is where they met. From the time they started to talk they just clicked and in a short amount of time they had become great friends. Deray was so sweet and always made Blaire laugh. Throughout the day Deray would make it a point to stop to chat with Blaire at her desk. They had a cute thing they would do, something Deray started, when he would come to her desk he would ask to hold her hand while they chatted.

Deray traveled a lot, and when he would go on travel he would always stop by Blaire's desk to say good-bye, with a hug and a kiss, which she would turn her head so he had to kiss her cheek. She teased him and told him he shouldn't kiss her like that because soon enough she was going to kiss him back. Upon his return from one trip, he and Blaire teased each other because neither one would go see each. When Deray came to see Blaire finally he hugged her, and then surprisingly he kissed her lips. It was a kiss that would stay with Blaire for her lifetime.  There was only one thing; both Blaire and Deray were married.

Overtime things happened, tears fell, feelings were hurt but no matter what, Blaire and Deray just could not walk away from each other. Blaire went through a divorce, which had been a long time coming. Deray was confused about what he needed, what he wanted, and had been since they had met. Blaire was always there for support, because  no matter what they were friends. Deray didn't tell Blaire what was going on in his life fully, as he wanted to not hurt Blaire, nor give her hope. About a year after Blaire's divorce, Deray finally knew, and decided that it was time to listen to that "gut feeling" Blaire had always told him was God speaking to him.

After his divorce he and Blaire dated on and off, but nothing serious. Blaire dated others, as she knew if she gave all her love to Deray she would get hurt, again. When she told Deray that she had been on dates with other men, he was suprised to feel the pain he did in his heart. He knew she may find another love, and if so he then stood to lose her, for good; and he was not alright with that.  Deray, being the true gentleman that he is, went to Blaire's father and asked him for his permission to marry Blaire. Deray also asked if Blaire's father would assist in asking Blaire to marry him. Deray took Blaire on a picnic lunch to Black Hawk State Park one beautiful fall afternoon. During lunch Deray handed Blaire an envelope; in it was a letter from Blaire's father telling her how much he loved her, and how proud he was of her and her accomplishments. The last few lines made Blaire cry, her father had given Deray permission to marry her, if she would have him. As she read the note Deray had the ring ready and waiting, and asked for her hand, as he had on so many occasions, and asked her if she would walk this life path and beyond with him.....and through her happy tears she said.....YES!
